The youth rapping at the start of the film was beside himself to be given the opportunity to record his work. He took it so seriously. He was nervous. He worked, recorded, re-recorded for almost an hour until he was happy with it. This is a boy who generally can’t be engaged for more than 5 minutes. To be able to witness the change in him for that time was awesome.
This year, Berry Street Ballarat created a pilot art program in an effort to engage their youth. To wrap up their achievements, MDP photography & video studio was commissioned to create a documentary style promo web video, showcasing the program & the end of year exhibition.
Throughout the year, youth were mentored in painting & art, photography & music. A huge thanks goes out to Linda Franklin at South Street Art studio & her assistant Ash Nicholls. Also thanks the Scobie & Claire MacKinnon Trust for their support.
The exhibition, held at Wolveschildren Art Space Ballarat was a great success. The pride these young people felt as they looked around at their work on display was incredible. The youth also got to overhear so many wonderful comments as people walked through the exhibition.
Thank you to everyone who came along & showed your support.
